How to Write Social Media Captions That Actually Get Engagement

Stop writing captions no one reads. Here's the formula that works.

The Caption Formula

**Line 1: The hook.** Make a bold claim, ask a question, share a surprising fact, or start mid-story. No "Check out my new post!" openers. Ever.

Examples:

"Most social media advice is wrong."

"I scheduled 30 posts in 20 minutes. Here's how."

**Lines 2–4: The body.** Deliver on the hook. Short sentences. Line breaks. Scannable.

**Final line: The CTA.** Tell them what to do. Drop a link. Ask a question. Invite a reply.

What to Avoid

Starting with "I" (boring)

Emoji spam

Passive voice

Filler phrases like "In today's world..." or "Let's dive in"
